Reykjavík Resident of the Year
The Reykjavík Resident of the Year was first awarded in 2011. The purpose is to find an individual who has been exemplary in their conduct or behavior and to thank them for their contribution. The Reykjavík Resident of the Year is named annually.
Suggestions from city residents
The City asks for suggestions from residents annually. Only individuals who have demonstrably kept the city clean by picking up litter or who have made positive impacts on their surroundings through unpaid contributions, boldness and vigor in recent years are eligible.
Selection of Reykjavík Resident of the Year
A three-person selection committee chooses the Reykjavík Resident of the Year from submitted proposals. The winner receives a day of salmon fishing in Elliðaár with the Mayor, an annual pass to City swimming pools, an annual pass to Reykjavík Family Park & Zoo, and a Culture Card for one year.
