Office of the Mayor and Chief Executive Officer

Purpose

The Office of the Mayor and Chief Executive Officer provides professional support services to the mayor and chief executive officer as they carry out their duties. The office's Service and Administration Team directly supports the mayor, prepares and follows up on matters brought before the City Executive Council and other specialized councils of Reykjavík City, and coordinates projects spanning multiple departments and units citywide. 

It leads and supports the mayor's strategic priorities and initiatives in administrative development, policy development, international affairs, and other assigned areas. Furthermore, the office handles data protection and project management, ensuring projects are executed consistently across the administration.

Another key responsibility is communicating information about City operations, which includes managing digital communications, marketing, and social media. These efforts emphasize clear public communication, a data-driven approach, and active engagement with residents and other stakeholders.
