Offer diverse courses, education, guidance and support for staff in the Department of Education & Youth. Emphasis is placed on diverse approaches based on teaching and working methods that research has shown to be successful in language development and literacy. Particular emphasis is placed on educating unqualified staff and staff of foreign origin.

Onboarding classes for new preschool staff include methods supporting linguistic development and literacy in daily activities Classes were held for nursing staff in child and infant care on linguistic development and multilingualism, in collaboration with The National Hearing and Speech Institute. The following classes were held multiple times during this period: Practical methods to enhance vocabulary across subjects, Interactive Reading, Beginners' Literacy Workshops, Assessment Workshops, Between Language Workshops, Bridge Between Countries, Effective Teaching and Well-Being in Diverse Classrooms, Financial Literacy, and Recreational Literacy. Recreational Literacy has been managed and supported by the Department of Education & Youth since 2018. The Recreational Literacy website has been launched, emphasizing experiential learning for children and encouraging their participation and interest through play and interaction. Many after-school programs employ recreational literacy methods. Through Torgið, an online educational platform, Recreational Literacy will become mandatory for all new staff. |
