4. Improved access to healthy recreational options and food

Green city

The Green Deal's goal for environmental and climate affairs.

Reykjavík City aims to improve access to healthy outdoor activities and food by 2030. The focus is on public health and increased urban farming.

  • The City protects drinking water, which is essential for all food production
  • Air quality and water quality in the sea and freshwater are safeguarded as the foundation for all outdoor activities
  • Various forms of exercise and outdoor activities are supported alongside the development of green areas
  • Food production and consumption have become more sustainable, and food waste has decreased
  • Access to and availability of vegetarian food and low-carbon footprint food have improved
