Timing Progress description
July 2023

26 workplaces at the Department of Education & Youth have completed the implementation of the Rights Respecting School/Rights Respecting After-School Program. Plans to add 8 more workplaces in the 2023-2024 school year are in place.

January 2023 The implementation of Rights Respecting Schools and Rights Respecting After-School Programs started in five schools in the fall of 2022: Breiðagerðisskóli, Fossvogsskóli, Hvassaleitisskóli, Réttarholtsskóli, and Víkurskóli. The after-school programs Sólbúar, Neðstaland, and Krakkakot, as well as in Bústaðir and Tónabær youth centers. SP and SV are starting discussions on the next implementation with four schools, after-school programs and youth centers in Grafarvogur. Work is underway to develop educational material for preschools in collaboration with UNICEF and to start a project on implementing the Rights Respecting Preschools concept in collaboration with the Faculty of Education at the University of Iceland and multiple preschools.
July 2022 New implementation plan developed, approved, and launched. This is an ongoing project that will be in progress from 2022 to 2024. To monitor progress, a status assessment is made twice a year, at the end of the year and at the end of June.
