  Timing Progress description
July 2023 A working group has been established. We've collaborated with Landvernd - Icelandic Environment Association, and the Department of Education & Youth (SFS) on teacher professional development in climate issues. This also ensures the professional development of preschools and after-school programs. Educational materials will also be made available through Torgið. There are plans for continued professional development of SFS staff in collaboration with Landvernd when it receives funding.
January 2023 A working group has been established. We've collaborated with Landvernd - Icelandic Environment Association, and the Department of Education & Youth on teacher professional development in climate issues. This also ensures the professional development of preschools and after-school programs. Educational materials will be made available through Torgið, the eLearning system for Reykjavík City staff. While we aimed to continue teacher development in collaboration with Landvernd, funding for this effort has not been secured. The aim is to host an event for primary school teachers where renowned speakers come together to educate about climate issues, and also to create a platform for teachers after the event. The event is scheduled for February 2023.
