About the preschool
Holt Preschool was established in 2010 as a result of the merger of the Fellaborg and Völvuborg preschools and employs around 30 staff. The preschool currently serves 92 children, who are divided into 6 age-based groups in two separate buildings. Stóra-Holt is for the older children and the groups are called Sel, Bakki, and Hóll, while Litla-Holt is for the younger ones and the groups are called Berg, Litla Fell, and Stóra Fell.

Philosophy
The values of Holt are respect, care, and cooperation
Holt Preschool follows the educational philosophies of John Dewey concerning hands-on learning through experiences, interests, and activities, as well as Lev Vygotsky's theories about children's potential for growth and development. Holt is a culturally diverse preschool that prioritizes language development, social equality, environmental education, and overall well-being for all those involved in the preschool's activities. The preschool is a partner in the "Targeted Language Stimulation in Fellahverfi" project and actively collaborates with the local community on cultural, language, and literacy initiatives. Oral hygiene is a top priority at Holt, so the children's teeth are brushed daily. Play is the primary mode of learning for the children at Holt, and is woven into all of the preschool's activities.

Parent cooperation
We are all in this together, and as the proverb goes it takes a village to raise a child. Reykjavík City preschools make targeted efforts to consult with and increase parent involvement in preschool activities.
All Reykjavík City preschools have parent associations and parent councils.
The Center for Holt
Holt Preschool falls under South Center. South Center provides a wide range of services to the residents of Breiðholt and is a comprehensive information source for municipal services. The Center provides welfare services, school services to preschool and primary schools, day care and recreational counseling, and various other services.
Child prosperity
The Act on the Integration of Services in the Interest of Children’s Prosperity has come into effect. The goal is to ensure children and guardians receive the right assistance, at the right time, from the right parties.
Families and children in need of early support have guaranteed access to a prosperity contact in the child's immediate environment, such as in preschool or primary school. The prosperity contact offers information and guidance on services and ensures that children and guardians have unhindered access to these services.
Children, youth, and guardians can reach the school prosperity contact to request integrated services.
The contact person for Holt is: Linda Sif Magnúsdóttir
