Disabled individuals can face various obstacles in their daily lives. Counseling for disabled individuals involves personalized support and guidance for individuals. The goal of counseling is to assist individuals in understanding the available services and help them live an independent and active life.

How do I apply for counseling?

You can book an appointment with a counselor. The counselor then provides advice and guidance on issues pertaining to disabled people. If you need more counseling or support, you'll be directed to a counselor at a center in your district. Emergency contacts can also book counseling appointments.

Am I entitled to counseling?

All disabled people who have legal residence in Reykjavík can receive counseling for free. Disabled people include those with developmental disabilities, mental disabilities, motor impairments, or vision and auditory impairments. People may also be disabled due to chronic illness or injury.

What counseling is available?

Counseling covers topics including rights, employment and activity, welfare technology, independent living, and applications for services that meet resident needs. The counseling is provided at centers, via phone, at home, and outside the home.
