On June 17, streets in the city center will be closed with traffic disruptions from 7am to 6pm.
Details are below:
The following streets will be closed from 7am to 1pm for the morning ceremony at Austurvöllur
- Skólabrú, Kirkjustræti and Pósthússtræti streets. Templarasund and Vonarstræti will be closed.
- Traffic will be restricted on Suðurgata, Túngata and Aðalstræti from 12 noon to 12:30pm.
The following streets will be closed from 12 noon to 2pm for the parade from Hallgrímskirkja to Hljómskálagarður:
- Eiríksgata/Barónsstígur, Eiríksgata/Njarðargata, Frakkastígur/Bergþórugata, Skólavörðustígur/Bergstaðarstræti and Bankastræti.
- Traffic will be restricted on streets that cross Skólavörðustígur and Bankastræti: Kárastígur, Bjarnarstígur, Baldursgata, Týsgata, Ingólfsstræti, Þingholtsstræti and Skólastræti.
- Lækjargata from Hverfisgata, Fríkirkjuvegur, Sóleyjargata, and Skothúsvegur west of Fríkirkjuvegur. Skálholtsstígur will be closed below Laufásvegur. Bragagata will be closed below Fjólugata, and Fjólugata will be closed north of Bragagata.
- Laugavegur will be open to Frakkastígur.
The following streets will be closed from 2pm to 6pm for family activities in Hljómskálagarður:
- Fríkirkjuvegur from Vonarstræti, Sóleyjargata and Skothúsvegur west of Fríkirkjuvegur.
- Skálholtsstígur will be closed below Laufásvegur. Bragagata will be closed below Fjólugata, and Fjólugata will be closed north of Bragagata.
For travel service providers:
- Drop-off spots no. 1, 2, and 3 will be closed from 8am to 2pm.
- Drop-off spot 8 at Hallgrímskirkja church will be closed from 10am to 1pm.
