June 17th
National Day, June 17, will have varied events. There’s a parade from Hallgrímskirkja, concerts, street theater, dance parties, a circus, playground equipment, food trucks, and vintage car exhibitions at Hljómskálagarður and Klambratún and more.
Road closures will be in effect in the city center throughout the celebrations. All information is available on this page.

Austurvöllur festival program
The ceremony organized by Alþingi and the Prime Minister's Office starts at Austurvöllur at 11 a.m., where Iceland's President Hallar Tómasdóttir will deliver a speech.

Parade from Hallgrímskirkja
The National Day parade will start at 1pm from Hallgrímskirkja, going down Skólavörðustígur to the festival area in Hljómskálagarður. Iceland's guardian spirits join the parade as a brass band plays along.

National Day festivities in Hljómskálagarður
From 1:30-5pm, Hljómskálagarður has concerts and family entertainment including a nature obstacle course, playground equipment, a bouncy castle, circus performers, art groups, Götuleikhúsið, Húlladúllan, Hringleikur, trolls, and food trucks.

At Klambratún, there will be a light and fun atmosphere for the whole family starting at 1pm. Playground equipment, food trucks, DJs, and a dance performance by Brynja Pétur — and that's just the beginning.
