Summer programs

Here you can find information about various summer programs offered by Reykjavík City for children and teens.
Youth centers and after-school programs
The City's recreation centers offer summer courses at after-school programs for children aged 6-9 during the summer. They also offer workshops for children aged 10-12 and youth center openings for teenagers aged 13-16.
In the summer after-school programs for children aged 6-9, fees are charged per week for the stay between 8:30am and 4:30pm. For workshops aimed at children aged 10-12, fees are typically charged for each workshop lasting approximately 2-6 hours.
Siglunes Sailing
Siglunes Sailing is an adventure center by the sea, where energetic and adventurous children can explore their strengths and passion. During the summer, sailing courses are offered for children and youth aged 9-16. In addition to courses, a sailing club is available for youth aged 10-16 with experience with sailing and other boating sports.

Reykjavík Family Park & Zoo
Animal courses for children aged 10-12. In these courses, children work with the park's animals, making them perfect for kids interested in animals in general. They participate in tasks in the sheep-shed, horse stable, pigsty, and among the wild animals. They also get to visit exotic animals.

Reykjavík City Library summer workshops
Reykjavík City Library offers summer workshops for children and teens ages 9-16. The library strives to broaden the selection of programs available for children and teens, ensuring everyone finds something that suits their interests. For example, the library offers classes in board game design, songwriting, photography and storytelling.
The summer workshops, like all Reykjavík City Library programs, are always free.

Museum summer programs
The National Gallery of Iceland offers Magic Workshop - creative and fun summer courses for children ages 7-9. The program aims to help children approach both nature and fine arts with greater confidence and curiosity.
Reykjavík Art Museum offers week-long courses in Viðey for children ages 8-9. Children explore the island, experiencing its history and natural environment through creative and artistic activities both indoors and outdoors.
