About Grafarvogslaug Pool

The ground was broken on December 13, 1996 and the first stage of the pool opened on May 3, 1998. Grafarvogslaug Pool has been built up gradually since the opening date. An indoor pool and whirlpool bath were completed in the fall of 1998 and a steam room in spring 1999. A play pool and slide were opened on April 25, 2002.

Purification of the water in the pool takes place through sand filters, up to 48 times a day in the tubs. Automatic chlorination stations are responsible for maintaining water quality according to the standards set by the Environmental and Food Agency.

Heated cold water up to 43°C.

Water in pools and tubs

Water in the main pool and play pool is heated cold water. Water in tubs is thermal spring water. The pH of the water in the pools is controlled by the use of carbon dioxide and therefore has a pH of about 7.7, which makes it possible to limit the use of chlorine.

Chlorine levels are determined by Article 17 of Regulation No 814/2010 on Hygiene at Swimming and Bathing Facilities.
