It is a general rule that when employees are hired by the City of Reykjavík, their supervisor introduces the benefits available to the employee.
The ÍTR card provides free access to Árbæjarlaug, Breiðholtslaug, Grafarvogslaug, Laugardalslaug, Sundhöll Reykjavíkur, and Vesturbæjarlaug swimming pools.
As an employee, you can apply for the card after one month of employment, provided you have received a fixed monthly salary for 3 months or an hourly salary for 6 months.
The Culture Pass provides free access to all major museums in Reykjavík. The pass includes Kjarvalsstaðir, Hafnarhús, Ásmundarsafn, Árbæjarsafn, the Settlement Exhibition, Reykjavík Museum of Photography, the Maritime Museum, and all branch libraries of the Reykjavík City Library.
As an employee, you can apply for the Culture Pass after one month of employment, provided you have received a fixed monthly salary for 3 months or an hourly salary for 6 months.
Employees who do not commute by private car are entitled to apply for a monthly transportation subsidy.
After working for 6 months, you are entitled to a fitness subsidy. Those who are in full-time employment can receive an annual subsidy of 16,000 kr. towards health and fitness expenses.
