Green Deal action

Reykjavík City has participated in the World Health Organization's age-friendly cities network since 2015. The goal of this participation is to make Reykjavík City accessible, welcoming and convenient for older residents, in turn making the city a better place to live for residents of all ages.

Þórhildur Guðrún Egilsdóttir, head of the Home Care Services Office at the Department of Welfare, serves as project manager for the Age-Friendly City initiative. This membership involves international collaboration on age-friendly cities through the WHO. Policy making for older adults is guided by the eight domains of age-friendly cities.
