Description of the action and objectives

Green Deal action

Reykjavík City actively participates in the Office of the Director of Health's work on Health-Promoting Communities and collaborates closely with the Office of the Director of Health, Primary Care of the Capital Area and other municipalities on best practices and program development.

In 2022, the Public Health Fund for Health-Promoting Neighborhoods was established, providing annual funding to service centers for implementing projects that support public health in neighborhoods. Health-Promoting Community goals guide funding decisions with emphasis on project visibility.

Approximately 25 projects received funding for initiatives that promote community health. The largest allocation was for electric bicycles with trailers for older adults and disabled people. Public health projects for next semester are being developed within neighborhoods.
