Building history

Mayor Dagur B. Eggertsson and schoolchildren from Dalsskóli broke ground for the new structure in Úlfarsárdalur on October 1, 2015. The groundbreaking marked the start of construction on a cultural center, public library, swimming pool, and sports center for residents of Grafarholt and Úlfarsárdalur. The construction period lasted about six years. Environmentally certified building materials were used when possible, with local materials used where feasible. Efforts were made to minimize maintenance needs and emphasize factors that promote a healthier environment for service users.

On November 12, 2019, young Fram athletes and Mayor Dagur B. Eggertsson broke ground for a new sports center in Úlfarsárdalur. The total area of the structures is about 18,000 square meters. The total cost is about 14 billion krónur, making it one of the City's largest single projects.
