Daily activities

Selið places a strong emphasis on ensuring that children feel comfortable in our environment. We are especially proactive in offering a diverse and enjoyable range of club activities. Our Pizza Club is a staple on Fridays - who doesn't love a great Friday pizza? In our Art Workshop, we work on various projects, conduct experiments, and enjoy other fun activities. The Slime Club is notably popular, and we also have photography, friendship bracelet making, and jewelry making clubs, among others. Social skills are a top priority for us, and our staff continuously strives to monitor group dynamics closely and intervenes promptly when needed.
Selið's ethos is centered on well-being and pleasure with a professional approach!

Practical information

Fees

Here you can access the fee schedule for the school year and summer break activities in after-school programs. You'll also find information on sibling discounts and various other details.

Bullying in school and recreational activities

Bullying and violence can have a lasting impact on the psyche of children and adolescents. It should not be accepted school and recreational activities. All workplaces for children and adolescents have an anti-bullying plan. Parents who receive indications or information about bullying should take it seriously and report it to the relevant parties. Workplaces of the Department of Education & Youth of Reykjavík City operate according to a bullying checklist developed in extensive consultation with professionals.

Disruption to school and recreational activities

Officials have issued recommendations for parents and guardians of children in schools and recreational activities. Capital area municipalities have assigned SHS to monitor weather conditions and forecasts and send out alerts when needed, working with police and education authorities as appropriate.

Child prosperity

The Act on the Integration of Services in the Interest of Children’s Prosperity has come into effect. The goal is to ensure children and guardians receive the right assistance, at the right time, from the right parties. Families and children in need of early support have guaranteed access to a prosperity liaison in the child's immediate environment, such as in preschool or primary school. The prosperity liaison offers information and guidance on services and ensures that children and guardians have unhindered access to these services. Children, youth, and guardians can reach the school prosperity liaison to request integrated services.

Information on the prosperity contacts for children at the Selið after-school program can be found on the website of Melaskóli
