The Preschool Admission tracker

  • The Preschool Admission tracker shows estimated spots that may become available in autumn 2026. Allocation begins in the spring of the same year.
  • This is not a guarantee of a spot. The data changes quickly, and waiting lists shift.
  • You do not apply here. Applications for preschool go through Vala.

How do waiting lists work?

  • Children are placed on the waiting list according to age, not the date of application.
  • You can apply to 7 preschools.
  • Each child can be on more than one waiting list.
  • Example: A child on the waiting list is born in May. Another child, born in January of the same year, applies to the same preschool. That child then moves ahead in line.

Which preschool should I choose?

  • First choice: Choose the preschool you prefer most, not just the one where you think you’re most likely to get a spot. You never know what will happen at the time of allocation, and it’s disappointing to miss out on a place in your preferred preschool. If your child has a sibling in a certain preschool, make that preschool your first choice. This increases the chances that your children can attend together.
  • Other choices: Choose other preschools you like. The Admission tracker can assist you with this selection.

How does the allocation of preschool spots work?

  • The process starts with the oldest child on the overall waiting list.
  • The application is carefully reviewed, and an attempt is made to offer a spot in the preschool of the first choice.
  • If that isn’t possible, the second choice is considered, then the third, and so on.
