In a recent Sameyki survey, the after-school programs Frostheimar and Selið ranked among the top five model workplaces in the city's small workplace category. Staff at both after-school programs believe their success stems from the cooperation and support that flourishes in their workplace. The head of office for recreational activities at Reykjavík City presented flowers to the staff in recognition of their achievement.

Democratic practices and flexibility

Selið at Melaskóli is known for its democratic approach where staff have opportunities to voice opinions on daily scheduling and offer suggestions for improvement. Weekly work meetings are held to coordinate efforts and align priorities. Creating a positive atmosphere in the workplace is heavily emphasized, which is essential when working with children.
