Green Deal action
Experts at the Human Rights & Democracy Office handle responsibilities including oversight of the Intercultural Council, issues related to immigrants, inclusion, and education on these topics. The office is responsible for monitoring the status of policy initiatives regarding immigrants, refugees and applicants for international protection.

| January 2024 | Reykjavík City's website on multiculturalism and inclusion was updated in December 2023. We continue to collaborate with our team of experts for immigrant matters within Reykjavík City. The aim of this team is to enhance cooperation and share knowledge to benefit immigrants in Reykjavík. Reykjavík City was chosen to participate in a task force operating under the Council of Europe’s Steering Committee on Anti-discrimination, Diversity and Inclusion (CDADI). Education on multicultural competence will start in 2024. | |
| July 2023 | We are preparing a policy on inclusion to replace the policy on immigrant affairs, which expired at the end of 2022. | |
| January 2023 | Work has been completed on the Reykjavík City webpage on multiculture and inclusion. The page lists projects and information about the status of immigrants in Reykjavík and is now available in both Icelandic and English. Updates will be made regularly, with a new version released every six months. We continue to collaborate with our team of experts for immigrant matters within Reykjavík City. The aim of this team is to enhance cooperation and share knowledge to benefit immigrants in Reykjavík. We have increased cooperation with associations related to immigrant matters. Two conferences on immigrant matters were held in conjunction with the Nordic Safe Cities network and Intercultural Cities. | |
| July 2022 | A conference titled "Hate, Social Inclusion, and Society" was held at Veröld Vigdísar where various professionals and stakeholders were invited to participate. The conference addressed hate speech and inclusion and was well attended. |
