Counseling for older people and their emergency contacts

Older people are a diverse group with a diverse range of needs. Older people, and their emergency contacts, receive guidance through counseling. The aim of the counseling is to help individuals understand the services available and support them in leading independent and active lifestyles.

How do I apply for counseling?

You can book an appointment with a counselor. The counselor then provides advice and guidance on issues pertaining to older people. If you need more counseling or support, you'll be directed to a counselor at a center in your district. Emergency contacts can also book counseling appointments.

Am I entitled to counseling?

All older people who have legal residence in Reykjavík can receive counseling for free.

What counseling is available?

Counseling covers topics including rights, activity, welfare technology, independent living, and applications for services that meet resident needs. The counseling is provided at centers, via phone, at home, and outside the home.
