Climate Recognition

The Climate Recognition of the City of Reykjavik and Festa is to recognize the contribution to fighting climate change. The aim of the Recognition is to raise positive awareness of what is well done in the fight against climate change and to be an inspiration to others.

Nominations

We are seeking nominations for companies, associations, organizations or individuals under the Climate Recognition of the City of Reykjavik and Festa. The appointments may be from the parties themselves, or from others. The nominations must include reasoning, and you can use the form below for guidance.

Goal

The aim of the Recognition is to raise awareness of what is well done in the fight against climate change and to be an inspiration to others. Proposals should have the subject “Loftslagsviðurkenning 2021” and emailed to usk@reykjavik.is or sent by mail to the City of Reykjavik, Borgartun 12–14, 105 Reykjavik. The Recognition will be delivered at the next Reykjavik City and Festa Climate Summit.

City Executive Council

On November 23, 2017, the City Executive Council agreed to grant the City’s annual Climate Recognition. The Recognition is given to companies, associations, institutions and individuals who have contributed to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The Selection Committee comprises three representatives, one each from Festa, the City and the University of Iceland. The Department of Environment and Planning provides the Selection Committee with an employee.

Selection Committee

The Selection Committee bases its selection on the results and actions undertaken by companies, associations, institutions or individuals in order to inform and educate on climate change issues, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and formulate new climate change solutions.

The Recognition was granted for the first time in 2017. Those recognized so far are:

  • EFLA Consulting Engineers
  • Klappir Green Solutions
  • HB Grandi
