On May 1, 2021, the workweek of staff, full-time, on-call will be shortened from 40 hours to 36 hours per week. Further shortening up to 32 hours is possible and is based on the weight of the hours worked.
The wage formation of shiftworkers is changing and will take into account the shift burden more than in the past. Shift load classes are increasing and a special shift incentive is paid which takes into account the number and diversity of shifts. A large proportion of shiftworkers work part-time and the reforms are designed to increase the opportunities for shiftworkers to work at higher employment rates and to increase their life expectancy.
