Reykjavik Parking Service
Reykjavik Parking Service supervises and monitors the use of paid parking in Reykjavik and also monitors vehicles that are stopped or parked in violation of traffic laws. Reykjavik Parking Service operates 7 multistorey car parks in downtown Reykjavik, where you can rent a long-term parking space. The Parking Service also manages the issuance of resident parking permits, which authorize users to park in paid parking spaces within a certain area.
Please note that it is not possible to transfer payments to the Reykjavik Parking Service.

Resident parking permits
A resident parking permit is a parking card for people living in areas where parking is subject to charges. Holders of resident parking permits can park a car free of charge in paid parking within the area of validity of their card.
Parking citations
There are two types of parking citations, extra parking citation, and parking violation charges. Extra parking citation (commonly referred to as parking tickets) are imposed when is not payed for parking space in a controlled parking zone. Parking violation charges, in turn, are imposed when a car or other vehicle is parked illegally.
Disability parking permits
People with reduced mobility who have difficulty getting to and from public parking may be eligible for a disability parking permit. Disability parking permits allow parking in specially marked spaces for people with reduced mobility and parking for free in controlled parking zones.
Obligation to pay
