Parking citations
There are two types of parking citations. On the one hand there are extra parking tariffs imposed on vehicles where paid parking has not been paid for, or where insufficient time has been paid for. On the other hand there are parking violation charges imposed on vehicles that have been parked illegally
Request to appeal a parking citation
If you received a parking citation that you believe you should not have received, you can submit a request to appeal the charge.
Extra parking tariff
The extra parking tariff is 4,500 kr. It is commonly referred to as parking meter citation. If the charge is paid in full within 3 business days of the citation there is a cash discount of 1,100 kr.
If the charge is not paid within 14 days after the citation date, the charge increases from 4,500 kr. to 6,750 kr. Charges that remain unpaid after 28 days following the date of citation increase to 9,000 kr.
Parking violation charges
The parking violation charge is 10,000 kr. This charge is imposed on a car when it is stopped or parked under a prohibition sign, on a sidewalk, on a pedestrian street, too close to a pedestrian crossing, or in other situations where parking is not allowed. If the charge is paid in full within 3 business days of the citation there is a cash discount of 1,100 kr.
If the charge is not paid within 14 days after the citation date, the charge increases to 15,000 kr. Charges that remain unpaid after 28 days following the date of citation increase to 20,000 kr.
Parking violation charge parking for people with reduced mobility
A 20,000 kr. parking violation charge applies when a vehicle is stopped or parked in a parking space for people with reduced mobility without a valid parking card.
With a cash discount, i.e. if paid within 3 business days of the citation, the tariff is 18,900 kr. If the charge is not paid within 14 days of the citation date, the charge increases to 30,000 kr. If it is still unpaid after 28 days, it increases to 40,000 kr.
