Reykjavík Arts Festival is an interdisciplinary festival with a focus on innovation. It takes place in both traditional and unconventional spaces throughout the city and extends beyond the city limits. The Resolution for the Reykjavík Arts Festival was confirmed by the Festival's Representative Council on June 20, 1997.
The Ministry of Education, Reykjavík City, various artists' associations, and cultural institutions are members of the Arts Festival. Each member nominates one person to the Representative Council, and in addition, the Minister of Education and the Mayor also have seats and alternate the chairmanship every two years.
The Board comprises three individuals: a representative from the Ministry of Education, a representative from Reykjavík City, and one person elected by the Representative Council for two years at a time.
Margrét Norðdahl serves on the Arts Festival Board on behalf of Reykjavík City.
