Recreation website Frístund.is
Description of the action and objectives
Green Deal action
Fristund.is is an information portal that mainly provides information about ongoing available classes for children. Member organizations can advertise which classes they are offering. The website is currently under development, and a central working group has been established to re-imagine the platform.
Implementation period
Planned completion in the first half of 2024
Status report on January 1, 2024
The working group met regularly twice a month. The project was first mapped, and many participated. Next, fristund.is was thoroughly reviewed, both in content and design, with various aspects being considered. A lot of time has been spent on considering the backend design of the website, specifically whether the City needs to consult an external company or if the website can be created in-house. The main delays in the process have been due to technical aspects and cost. A price inquiry was also made, but only one company submitted a bid. The goal of the work was and is to simplify the website and make it more user-friendly for residents. To determine this, a survey was sent out to members, which yielded good results. According to the working group's timeline, the website was to go live in summer 2024, but that is unlikely to be achieved.
