Description of the action and objectives
Green Deal action
Construction of a new seal pool and service facilities at the Reykjavík Family Park & Zoo. The development has a focus on enhancing animal welfare and improving educational facilities. A comprehensive review of the park's operations will also be conducted, covering increased outdoor activities and diverse recreation in the family garden for everyone, the development and review of zoo operations, as well as continued development of educational offerings for children and young people in preschool, primary school, and recreational programs.

Status report on July 1, 2025
The majority coalition agreement proposes construction at the seal pool. The cost estimate is being reassessed, but drawings and tender documents are available. A proposal to explore developing a puffin habitat next to the seal pool is under review.
