Practical information
Fees
Here you can access the fee schedule for the school year and summer break activities in after-school programs. You'll also find information on sibling discounts and various other details.
Bullying in school and recreational activities
Bullying and violence can have a lasting impact on the psyche of children and adolescents. Workplaces of the Department of Education & Youth of Reykjavík City operate according to a bullying checklist developed in extensive consultation with professionals. This page provides information on how to respond if a child experiences bullying in primary school or during recreational activities.
Action plan
Rights respecting schools and after-school programs are dedicated to one of the fundamental principles of Icelandic education: democracy and human rights. The program emphasizes children's rights education for both children and adults, ensuring that children become active participants in a democratic society. One of the steps in implementing the Convention on the Rights of the Child involves developing an action plan.
Disruption to school and recreational activities
Officials have issued recommendations for parents and guardians of children in schools and recreational activities. Capital area municipalities have assigned SHS to monitor weather conditions and forecasts and send out alerts when needed, working with police and education authorities as appropriate.
Child prosperity
The Act on the Integration of Services in the Interest of Children’s Prosperity has come into effect. The goal is to ensure children and guardians receive the right assistance, at the right time, from the right parties. Families and children in need of early support have guaranteed access to a prosperity liaison in the child's immediate environment, such as in preschool or primary school. The prosperity liaison offers information and guidance on services and ensures that children and guardians have unhindered access to these services. Children, youth, and guardians can reach the school prosperity liaison to request integrated services.
Information on the prosperity contact for children at the after-school program Eldflaugin can be found on the website of Hlíðaskóli
