Ártúnshöfði
Description of the action and objectives
Green Deal action
Ártúnshöfði, Elliðaárvogur is Reykjavík's largest development area. The plan is for this new district to have up to 8,000 apartments housing up to 20,000 city residents. The initial development areas will include 3,500 residential units, two primary schools and one consolidated school, alongside thriving commercial and business activities at Krossamýrartorg. The backbone of the development runs alongside the planned CityLine, which passes through the center of the planning area.
Plan for 2024-2025: Ártúnshöfði is divided into eight land-use planning areas, with plans for two of these already approved. In the harbor district, ground settlement work is ongoing, and three lots will be ready for construction in 2024. In land-use planning Area 1, development has begun on two lots, with residents expected to move into the first homes in 2025. More lots in this area are expected to begin development in 2024. Utility installation, street construction and surface finishing will continue for the next two years in Area 1. Land-use planning for the next areas (2, 6 and 7) will continue in 2024, along with design work for streets, green spaces and the CityLine.
