Green Deal action
Reinventing Cities is an international competition that calls for outstanding ideas for construction projects, in terms of city development and climate, and environmental issues. The competition encourages ideas that demonstrate creative thinking and a bright future vision with a greener and more environmentally friendly urban environment in mind. Reykjavík City offered two plots in the competition in 2020 Sævarhöfði 31 and Gufunesbryggja Pier. In 2018, plots at Lágmúli and Malarhöfði were tendered.

Status report on January 1, 2024
Negotiations are ongoing. Agreements are in place for the reconstruction at Ártúnshöfði, but a detailed land-use plan is still needed. There is significant interest in Lágmúli. The City and Veitur Utilities are working to resolve the piping issues that are hindering further development. A new spokesperson has been appointed for Sævarhöfði 31.
A lot lease agreement was approved for Þorpið concerning their project at Gufunesbryggja.

July 2022 | The competition for Sævarhöfði is over and the winning proposal has been found. A team is working on improvements after receiving comments on the proposal for Gufunesbryggja. The legal team at the Office of the Mayor and Chief Executive Officer is working on contracts with Veitur regarding Lágmúli. An agreement has been reached for a project at Malarhöfði near Ártún. |
