About Úlfabyggð

Open all weekdays from 1:40pm to 5pm

In Dalskóli, the recreational activities are integrated with the regular activities of primary school children in for 5 class periods (roughly three hours) of their schedule, taking place in the Úlfabyggð after-school program. The regular fee-based recreational activities in Úlfabyggð start at 1:30pm for 1st grade and 2pm for 2nd to 4th grade. Children from the oldest division of the preschool section attend the Úlfabyggð recreational activities once or twice a week during the school year. This is part of the integration process and to bridge the gap between education levels – starting in Úlfabyggð for the first graders in the fall will be no problem because the children would have had a good transition the previous school year.

Director: Ragnheiður Erna Kjartansdóttir

Daily activities

Dalskóli operates as an integrated primary school, preschool, and after-school program, fostering significant collaboration among these three units within the school. Úlfabyggð is located within the schoolbuilding. In recent years, the workshop initiatives at Úlfabyggð have been quite ambitious, focusing on setting goals for staff in workshops and engaging as many children as possible. Each workshop runs for four to six sessions, with offerings such as a short film workshop, outdoor cooking workshop, comic book workshop, and yoga workshop.

Child prosperity

The Act on the Integration of Services in the Interest of Children’s Prosperity has come into effect. The goal is to ensure children and guardians receive the right assistance, at the right time, from the right parties. Families and children in need of early support have guaranteed access to a prosperity contact in the child's immediate environment, such as in preschool or primary school. The prosperity contact offers information and guidance on services and ensures that children and guardians have unhindered access to these services. Children, youth, and guardians can reach the school prosperity contact to request integrated services.

Information on the prosperity contacts for children at the Úlfabyggð after-school program can be found on the website of Dalskóli.
