Reykjavík City action plan on equality and human rights
Description of the action and objectives
Green Deal action
The plan outlines goals and measures to prevent discrimination and promote equal treatment in budget allocation, service delivery, and human resources. The plan therefore covers all City operations and aligns with other policies and plans the City has approved, such as the Green Plan, accessibility policy, action plan against violence, human resources policy, equal pay policy, welfare policy, sports policy, and cultural policy. In the City's human rights policy, City officials commit to upholding human rights in four main areas, where each area reflects the City's diverse roles and responsibilities: as a government authority, an employer, a service provider, and a partner. The action plan for equality and human rights sets forth 51 goals and 108 measures across these four areas to promote equality and human rights.
Implementation period
Planned completion in the second half of 2026
Status report on July 1, 2025
A status report on the action plan for equality and human rights will be prepared in fall 2025 and then sent to the City Council for discussion as required by equality law.
