Construction on Arnarnesvegur progressing well

Work on Arnarnesvegur between Rjúpnavegur and Breiðholtsbraut is back in full swing after the Christmas break and making good progress. Workers are finishing the new bridge over Breiðholtsbraut, continuing construction on a new pedestrian bridge over Arnarnesvegur, and building new underpasses at Rjúpnavegur.

Report released on Thorvaldsens Association Nursery operations from 1974-1979

An independent committee appointed by Reykjavík City to investigate the Thorvaldsens Association Nursery operations in Reykjavík from 1974-1979 released its findings today. This follow-up investigation was conducted after an earlier study of nursery operations in the city from 1949-1973.

Reykjavík City launches electronic purchase requests

Reykjavík City has begun rolling out electronic purchase requests in partnership with Síminn Pay. The change will be rolled out in phases across all offices over the coming months, eliminating paper purchase requests that Reykjavík City has used for decades.

Reykjavík City among leading climate cities

Reykjavík City is among 120 cities on the independent assessment company CDP's list that receive the highest rating for having a comprehensive action plan related to the climate emergency integrated into their policies. A total of 738 cities submitted data to CDP, and only 16% of them made it onto the A-list for 2025.

Guðjón Sigurðsson Music Fund merges with Iceland Music Fund - early-year distribution

The Iceland Music Fund's latest distribution was significantly boosted by an 11 million króna contribution from Reykjavík City. The money came from the Guðjón Sigurðsson Music Fund, which was established in 1908 but has now been dissolved. Grant recipients came together to celebrate the distribution.
