Primary school, grades 1–10
By Skeiðarvogur

The Vogaskóli school calendar lists the planning days as well as other important information for parents and guardians.
Most primary school students take part in the lunch program. The cost of school meals is the same at all schools. And, you do not need to pay for school lunch for more than two children from the same household.
Vogaskóli, a district school located in Vogahverfi, is part of the Laugardalur and Háaleiti district. It started operations in December 1958, making it one of the older schools in the city. It therefore has a long and significant history. The school is in an established neighborhood, near natural gems such as Laugardalur and Elliðaárdalur.
Vogaskóli is a comprehensive primary school with a single-session schedule from 1st to 10th grade. The school has an official specialized division for autism with seven students. The school has around 300 students this school year and about 50 staff members. The school building is divided into two parts: the older building and the new building. The older building houses students of grades 7-10, a guidance counselor, study center, and the youth center Buskinn. It also offers arts and vocational subjects. In the new building, there are students of grades 1-6, an autism division, information center, music room, home economics, administrators offices, head of office facilities, nurses facilities, cafeteria, coffee room, and dining room. The building for the Vogasel after-school program, for children in grades 1-4 at Vogaskóli, is on the school grounds.
The Act on the Integration of Services in the Interest of Children’s Prosperity has come into effect. The goal is to ensure children and guardians receive the right assistance, at the right time, from the right parties. Families and children in need of early support have guaranteed access to a contact person in the child's immediate environment, such as in preschool or primary school. The contact person offers information and guidance on services and ensures that children and guardians have unhindered access to these services. Children, youth, and guardians can contact the school contact person to request integrated services.
The contact person for Vogaskóli is: Sveinfríður Olga Veturliðadóttir

There are several school districts in Reykjavík and each child has priority in their district school. Nevertheless, all parents have the choice to apply to any school in the city for their children according to the rules on school districts, applications, and admission. Here is information on which streets belong to Vogaskóli's school district.
We are all in this together, and as the proverb goes it takes a village to raise a child. Reykjavík City schools make targeted efforts to consult with and increase parent involvement in school activities. All schools in Reykjavík City have an active parent association.
