About the preschool
A new preschool will be built on the Njálsgata plot behind Austurbæjarbíó. It will accommodate 205 children between the ages of 1 and 6 - and have 6 divisions. The preschool grounds will be 1,320 m² plus about 620 m² of playground area on roof gardens on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the building.

The preschool director has not yet been hired.
Projects
The new Miðborgarleikskóli preschool is a part of the Bridging the Gap development initiative, which aims to bridge the gap between parental leave and preschool.
You will be able to follow the progress using the Reykjavík City Development Viewer.
City of Reykjavík preschools follow the National Preschool Curriculum with reference to the Reykjavík City Education Policy. It focuses on encouraging children's discovery and play and making them active participants in a democratic society.
