The motto of Laufskálar is an open mind, thoughtfulness, respect, positivity, joy, and active listening
The educational philosophy followed at the preschool is influenced by the master's project "Play in Kindergarten and Children's Identity" by Anna Bára Sævarsdóttir. One of the main goals of this approach is to encourage children to express their thoughts and feelings in front of others, both in individual conversations and in group settings, while also promoting respect for others. The theories of Dewey, Vygotsky, Bruner, and Gardner are also considered.

The Act on the Integration of Services in the Interest of Children’s Prosperity has come into effect. The goal is to ensure children and guardians receive the right assistance, at the right time, from the right parties. Families and children in need of early support have guaranteed access to a contact person in the child's immediate environment, such as in preschool or primary school. The contact person offers information and guidance on services and ensures that children and guardians have unhindered access to these services. Children, youth, and guardians can contact the school contact person to request integrated services.
The contact person for Laufskáli is: Anna Björg Guðmundsdóttir
