Want to know more about Reynisholt? In this very short video, we give a glimpse of the preschool activities. It was made by Erla Stefánsdóttir and Antonía Lárusdóttir for the Department of Education & Youth.
The child itself is the focus of the preschool work in Reynisholt
Emphasis is placed on individualized learning, meaning every child is unique and therefore their needs and uniqueness should be respected regardless of ability, experience and maturity. In addition to daily life, play and the basic components of education outlined in the National Curriculum, the main focus of the curriculum is on teaching life skills, environmental education, and literacy. The preschool has developed its philosophy, among other things, based on the master's project Touch, Yoga and Relaxation (I. Snerting, jóga og slökun) by Sigurlaug Einarsdóttir and the development project Life and Skills (I. Líf og leikni) that was carried out in Reynisholt in 2006-2008. These projects shaped the philosophy and vision of the preschool.

What's ahead for Reynisholt? In the operational plan, you'll find, among other things, the school's internal and external evaluations for the last year, an improvement plan, the preschool calendar, and much more.
When does Reynisholt have professional development days? In the preschool calendar, you'll find information about days off and various other details.
We are all in this together, and as the proverb goes it takes a village to raise a child. Reykjavík City preschools make targeted efforts to consult with and increase parent involvement in preschool activities. All Reykjavík City preschools have parent associations and parent councils.
Reynisholt Preschool falls under East Center. East Center provides a wide range of services to the residents of Árbær, Grafarholt, Grafarvogur, and Kjalarnes and is a comprehensive information source for municipal services. The Center provides welfare services, school services to preschool and primary schools, day care and recreational counseling, and various other services.
The Act on the Integration of Services in the Interest of Children’s Prosperity has come into effect. The goal is to ensure children and guardians receive the right assistance, at the right time, from the right parties. Families and children in need of early support have guaranteed access to a contact person in the child's immediate environment, such as in preschool or primary school. The contact person offers information and guidance on services and ensures that children and guardians have unhindered access to these services. Children, youth, and guardians can contact the school contact person to request integrated services.
The contact persons for Reynisholt are: Elín J. Sveinsdóttir and Helena Rut Sigurðardóttir
