Description of the action and objectives

Green Deal action

In light of increased precipitation and rising sea levels, it's crucial to adapt infrastructure to climate change and ensure the city’s resilience. Flood defenses along the coastline need bolstering, and plans are in motion to transform them into recreation areas, flood control structures, and ocean bathing facilities at select locations.

Status report on January 1, 2023

Improvements to the seawall of Eiðsgrandi and Ánanaust are complete. Improvements to the Sæbraut seawall are being prepared. Conditions for outdoor activity and experiences have been improved concurrently. Work is underway on a land-use plan for Sæbraut.
