Optional care days this fall at preschools

Families planning to use City preschool services on the days when primary schools are on fall break — Oct. 22, 23 and 26, and between Christmas and New Year's — must register their children separately. Registration is open Sept. 10–20.

Good neighbors, great city — new neighborhood watch signs

A new neighborhood watch sign now stands on Stararimi in Grafarvogur. Mayor Hildur Björnsdóttir visited Stararimi to introduce a new neighborhood watch campaign.

Yu Yasuhira has been awarded the 2026 Ellý Katrín Scholarship. Mayor Hildur Björnsdóttir presented the scholarship during a formal ceremony at Höfði yesterday.

Preschool staffing improves over previous years

Staffing at the City's preschools has gone more smoothly this fall than in either of the past two years. Overall, 67% of preschools are fully staffed or close to it.
