The Reykjavík Card goes digital — users build their own card
Reykjavík City has launched a new digital solution to simplify access to its wide range of services. With the new digital card, users can customize their access to leisure activities and services right from their mobile wallet.
Digital access to swimming pools, museums, the geothermal beach, and Reykjavík Family Park & Zoo
The Reykjavík Card offers a flexible option where each user chooses which services to activate and pays according to the current fee schedule. Available options include access to swimming pools, museums, the geothermal beach at Nauthólsvík, and Reykjavík Family Park & Zoo. Rather than a fixed package, this personalized access card is built entirely around individual choices.
"Reykjavík is now in your phone. Finally!" says Steinþór Einarsson, Director of the Department of Culture & Sports. "With the new Reykjavík Card, residents and visitors can choose the services that work best for them and access them whenever they need to."
The digital card is currently available at City service desks, where users can have it issued and configured. Services are available at Reykjavík City swimming pools and museums, at the Geothermal Beach front desk, and at Reykjavík Family Park & Zoo. While direct online purchasing is not yet available, this feature is planned for a later phase.
Current physical cardholders can switch to a digital card free of charge through the end of 2026. Otherwise, pricing for the digital card follows the current fee schedule. Please note that users cannot hold both a physical card and a digital card simultaneously.
Part of the digital journey
The digital Reykjavík Card is part of Reykjavík City's broader digital journey — an ongoing effort to improve services and streamline access for residents and visitors alike. In many ways, it functions much like the digital library cards many people already use.
New fee schedule
The new card is now available. We also want to highlight a new fee schedule taking effect May 5. Once it takes effect, annual fees for Reykjavík's swimming pools, the geothermal beach and the Reykjavík Family Park & Zoo will be lower. We are also introducing affordable new subscription options to make regular use more accessible.
