Q&A

Úlfarsárdalur Swimming Pool

Will a water slide be built at the new swimming pool in Úlfarsárdalur as intended according to the original plan?

ANSWER:

The original plan was to build a slide that would be accessible for everyone. This solution proved to take too much of the space we have available and it will be built in Laugardalur where there is more space. We are now preparing a tender for a standard double slide. Work on the foundation and surroundings will begin soon start, but the Procurement Office has not yet completed the review of the procurement documents. Until we have an offer in hand, it's hard to tell when it will be ready, but optimists expect it to be this year. Further changes will be made in Laugardalslaug Pool and the public is encouraged to submit ideas for remodeling the pool.

Stígar um Reynisvatn/Reynisvatnsheiði

Question:

Last summer/fall work was done on the path around Reynisvatn. It was a back-to-back job and used for this was a poor clay top coat. In autumn and winter, the footpath has been incapable of sectioning due to mud. It is unlikely to see how badly the footpaths around this area of Reynisvatn/Reynisvatnsheiði are considered.

Answer:

Two questions are asked here, namely the path around Reynisvatn and the paths/trails on Reynisvatnheid. The path around Reynisvatn was repaired last summer/fall. Materials were drilled into the path, but the path was not built up - which would have been much larger than execution. Then the same material that has been used in moth trails in Reykjavik for many years was applied in the path. The material comes from a mine at Geirland and is only clayey so that it compacts well, but of course a drizzle can come through in high solubilisation. In two places, the path is badly crossed and will be remedied in the following spring, and arrangements will be made so that it does not go through badly in the next resolutions. However, regarding the Reynisvatnsheid, there are numerous paths and trails, in an uneven condition, and some only trams/sheep streets and not actual paths. The overall planning of the Eastern Highlands is being worked out and the creation of paths and riverbeds is now being carried out on top of the heath. The first stage will see the Valley of Paradise and the paths up there from Red Lake. This is a long-term project for the next five years.
