About the preschool
Ösp Preschool opened in 1980 and is located in the heart of Fellahverfi. The preschool has three groups: Skýjaland, Regnbogaland, and Stjörnuland. The Gerðuberg City Library and the natural wonder of Elliðaárdalur are both located nearby. The preschool places a strong emphasis on providing a rich language environment, promoting language development, environmental education, and cultural diversity. Ösp Preschool takes part in the project "Language Development and Literacy in Fellahverfi", we contribute to a stronger self-image for children, who can make their dreams come true.

Philosophy
The values of Ösp are joy, friendship, and respect
Ösp Preschool is a culturally diverse preschool that prioritizes language development, social equality, and the overall well-being of everyone involved in the preschool's activities. The preschool's educational philosophy is rooted in social constructivism, which draws on philosophy, psychology, sociology, and pedagogy. It is influenced by several scholars, including John Dewey and Lev Vygotsky. At Ösp, well-being, equality, play, democracy, creativity, and language cultivation serve as guiding principles and are integrated into all aspects of the preschool's work.

Parent cooperation
We are all in this together, and as the proverb goes it takes a village to raise a child. Reykjavík City preschools make targeted efforts to consult with and increase parent involvement in preschool activities.
All Reykjavík City preschools have parent associations and parent councils.
The Center for Ösp
Ösp Preschool falls under South Center. South Center provides a wide range of services to the residents of Breiðholt and is a comprehensive information source for municipal services. The Center provides welfare services, school services to preschool and primary schools, day care and recreational counseling, and various other services.
Child prosperity
The Act on the Integration of Services in the Interest of Children’s Prosperity has come into effect. The goal is to ensure children and guardians receive the right assistance, at the right time, from the right parties.
Families and children in need of early support have guaranteed access to a prosperity contact in the child's immediate environment, such as in preschool or primary school. The prosperity contact offers information and guidance on services and ensures that children and guardians have unhindered access to these services.
Children, youth, and guardians can reach the school prosperity contact to request integrated services.
The contact persons for Ösp are: Helga Hrund Bjarnadottir and Anna Sigrún Guðmundsdóttir
