Want to know more about Hálsaskógur? In this very short video, we give a glimpse of the preschool activities. It was made by Erla Stefánsdóttir and Antonía Lárusdóttir for the Department of Education & Youth.
The values of Hálsaskógur are play, respect, and friendship
Hálsaskógur Preschool uses "Raising for Responsibility" (“Uppeldi til ábyrgðar”) and positive psychology, which focuses on improving self-image and resilience to handle challenges. Hálsaskógur also has a rich tradition of environmental education, both inside and outside the classroom. Outdoor learning is a big part of the work, and the preschool has access to an outdoor area nearby. Hálsaskógur has received its eighth Green Flag award, as part of its ongoing Green Flag work which started in 2004.
What's ahead for Hálsaskógur? In the operational plan, you'll find, among other things, the school's internal and external evaluations for the last year, an improvement plan, the preschool calendar, and much more.
Do you want to know more about the philosophy and daily operations of Hálsaskógur? In the school curriculum, you'll find detailed information about the school's philosophical emphasis and approach to play, learning, and work.
We are all in this together, and as the proverb goes it takes a village to raise a child. Reykjavík City preschools make targeted efforts to consult with and increase parent involvement in preschool activities. All Reykjavík City preschools have parent associations and parent councils.
Hálsaskógur Preschool falls under South Center. South Center provides a wide range of services to the residents of Breiðholt and is a comprehensive information source for municipal services. The Center provides welfare services, school services to preschool and primary schools, day care and recreational counseling, and various other services.
