The values of Brekkuborg are democracy, respect, and friendship
We operate based on the philosophy of Reggio Emilia, adapted to suit Icelandic conditions, culture, and uniqueness. The preschool aims to be a dynamic and constantly evolving place where children and teachers have positive relationships. Children are placed in learning and play environments that support their overall development and encourage autonomy and independence. These experiences allow children to explore and investigate based on their own interests. We also follow the philosophy of Caroline Pratt, who designed unit blocks with the aim of advancing the child's mental, physical, social, and emotional development.
Do you want to know more about the philosophy and daily operations of Brekkuborg? In the school curriculum, you'll find detailed information about the school's philosophical emphasis and approach to play, learning, and work.
What's ahead for Brekkuborg? In the operational plan, you'll find, among other things, the school's internal and external evaluations for the last year, an improvement plan, the preschool calendar, and much more.

We are all in this together, and as the proverb goes it takes a village to raise a child. Reykjavík City preschools make targeted efforts to consult with and increase parent involvement in preschool activities. All Reykjavík City preschools have parent associations and parent councils.
Brekkuborg Preschool falls under East Center. East Center provides a wide range of services to the residents of Laugardalur and Háaleiti and is a comprehensive information source for municipal services. The Center provides welfare services, school services to preschool and primary schools, day care and recreational counseling, and various other services.
