Hólabrekkuskóli is a comprehensive primary school for students in grades 1-10. There are about 490 students and 76 staff members. The guiding principles of Hólabrekkuskóli are respect, joy, and care. The school follows the Development Policy, which aligns well with both the school's anti-bullying policy and the Well-Being Leader Program. We place emphasis on everyone feeling good as well as enhancing life skills and self-esteem in students.
The after-school program Álfheimar serves children in 1st-2nd grade at Hólabrekkuskóli, and the joint after-school program Hraunheimar is for 3rd-4th graders. The youth center Hundrað&ellefu offers a wide range of entertaining activities for children and adolescents.

Child prosperity
The Act on the Integration of Services in the Interest of Children’s Prosperity has come into effect. The goal is to ensure children and guardians receive the right assistance, at the right time, from the right parties. Families and children in need of early support have guaranteed access to a contact person in the child's immediate environment, such as in preschool or primary school. The contact person offers information and guidance on services and ensures that children and guardians have unhindered access to these services. Children, youth, and guardians can contact the school contact person to request integrated services.

Parent cooperation
We are all in this together, and as the proverb goes it takes a village to raise a child. Reykjavík City schools make targeted efforts to consult with and increase parent involvement in school activities. Every Reykjavík City school has an active parent association. The role of the parent association is to enhance the school's efforts, foster student well-being, and reinforce connections between home and school. Each school's parent association defines its own rules of operation, including the election process for its board and the selection of representatives to the school council.

Each school's parent association defines its own rules of operation, including the election process for its board and the selection of representatives to the school council.
Parents and/or guardians of all students at Hólabrekkuskóli automatically become members of Hólabrekkuskóli's Parent Association. The association's goal is to promote student welfare, including by fostering strong collaboration between the school and students' homes, and supporting the school in fulfilling the expectations placed upon it as effectively as possible.
The main events organized by the Association are:
- Christmas crafting. 10th-grade students often host food sales to fundraise for their graduation trip. The Christmas crafting is not intended as a fundraiser for the parent association.
- Grade 10 graduation The parent association takes part in the 10th-grade graduation by offering cake and presenting each graduate with a rose. This is a formal yet enjoyable occasion that many find pleasurable to attend.
- The parent association participates in the planning of the 17th of June celebration in the neighborhood, along with Fellaskóli's Parent Association and the sports club Leiknir. There is live music and diverse entertainment for all ages.
- The Parent Association has organized a Neighborhood Watch on Friday evenings for several years.
- One task of the parent association is to ensure that each class or group has two to three representatives. They serve as a contact point between the Association's board and the classes and are responsible for organizing class events at least once per year.
- Cooperation of the parent associations in Breiðholt. The five primary schools in Breiðholt have well-coordinated parent associations. The associations hold consultation meetings with school administrators, and the schools rotate hosting duties.
- In recent years, these associations have arranged a neighborhood walk on Ash Wednesday, so that children can visit homes to sing for neighbors in hopes of receiving treats.
- The parent associations have led exciting initiatives, such as providing all primary school students with reflective badges to enhance their visibility in traffic. Student associations' boards took care of the distribution in the classes.
- The Breiðholt Book Strolls initiative is a unique effort aimed at encouraging adult reading, recognizing them as role models for the children. Hólabrekkuskóli manages the book shelf in Hólagarður, and other locations include Breiðholtslaug, the Iceland shop in Seljahverfi, the ÍR building, and Mjódd.
