About the preschool

Borg is open from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm

Borg Preschool operates at two locations named after the older preschool names: Arnarborg at Maríubakki and Fálkaborg at Fálkabakki. Each location has three groups. The children who attend the preschool are between the ages of one and six, with a total of 110 children expected.

Philosophy

The values of Borg are respect, responsibility, and care

 

Borg emphasizes play as a learning path for children and that they learn through play. Borg follows the new Reykjavík City Education Policy, "Let Dreams Come True," and places a strong focus on developing social skills and self-discipline. Play is considered work for the children and it is crucial that they have the opportunity to experience things and events for themselves. Play is their form of expression and at the same time, preparation for adulthood. The focus of the play is therefore for children to develop important skills, such as social relations, empathy, independent thinking, and initiative.

Parent partnerships

We are all in this together, and as the proverb goes it takes a village to raise a child. Reykjavík City preschools make targeted efforts to consult with and increase parent involvement in preschool activities. All Reykjavík City preschools have parent associations and parent councils.

The Center for Borg

Borg Preschool falls under South Center. South Center provides a wide range of services to the residents of Breiðholt and is a comprehensive information source for municipal services. The Center provides welfare services, school services to preschool and primary schools, day care and recreational counseling, and various other services.

Farsæld barna

Ný lög um samþætta þjónustu í þágu farsældar barna hafa tekið gildi. Markmiðið er að tryggja að börn og forsjáraðilar fái rétta aðstoð, á réttum tíma, frá réttum aðilum. Fjölskyldum og börnum sem þurfa snemmtækan stuðning er tryggður aðgangur að tengilið farsældar í nærumhverfi barnsins, svo sem í leikskóla eða grunnskóla. Tengiliður farsældar veitir upplýsingar og leiðbeiningar um þjónustu og stuðlar að því að börn og forsjáraðilar hafi aðgang að þjónustu án hindrana. Til að óska eftir samþættri þjónustu geta börn, ungmenni og forsjáraðilar haft samband við tengilið farsældar.
