About the preschool

Seljaborg is open from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm

Seljaborg has 48 children at the same time in 3 groups. The youngest children in Lundur go to Lækur and the older children go to Tjörn. The preschool is located at Tungusel in Seljahverfi, next to Ölduselskóli. The surroundings are beautiful and extremely varied with running water, trees, and various vegetation offering countless outdoor opportunities.

At Seljaborg, the most highly respected experts are John Dewey, Howard Gardner, William Damon, and Daniel Goleman. We believe that it is important to develop children's social skills because they are the foundation for becoming active members of society. We believe that it is essential to encourage friendship. Children are social creatures and need opportunities to communicate and express themselves in many different ways. When children have strong communication and play skills, it helps them develop their social skills and strengthens their sense of self.

The Center for Seljaborg

Seljaborg Preschool falls under South Center. South Center provides a wide range of services to the residents of Breiðholt and is a comprehensive information source for municipal services. The Center provides welfare services, school services to preschool and primary schools, day care and recreational counseling, and various other services.

 

Farsæld barna

Ný lög um samþætta þjónustu í þágu farsældar barna  hafa tekið gildi. Markmiðið er að tryggja að börn og forsjáraðilar fái rétta aðstoð, á réttum tíma, frá réttum aðilum. Fjölskyldum og börnum sem þurfa snemmtækan stuðning er tryggður aðgangur að tengilið í nærumhverfi barnsins, svo sem í leikskóla eða grunnskóla. Tengiliður veitir upplýsingar og leiðbeiningar um þjónustu og stuðlar að því að börn og forsjáraðilar hafi aðgang að þjónustu án hindrana. Til að óska eftir samþættri þjónustu geta börn, ungmenni og forsjáraðilar haft samband við tengilið skólans.
