Requirements for Language Center courses

Students in the Language Center must have a basic knowledge of the language. They should have a good understanding of spoken Norwegian, Swedish or Polish, be able to read texts in these languages at an age-appropriate level, and be able to make themselves understood in spoken Norwegian, Polish or Swedish.

Prerequisites

The project manager for each language assesses if new students have the necessary background knowledge. We emphasize that beginner-level instruction is not offered, and all teaching is in the target language. Connection to the country is not enough to qualify for these language courses. Students who don't meet minimum requirements must take Danish at their school.

Polish

Polish is taught as a mother tongue, following the Polish curriculum for students learning Polish abroad. Students must speak Polish and have enough vocabulary to participate in class.

Swedish and Norwegian

Project managers interview new students in Norwegian/Swedish and assign tasks to assess their basic language knowledge. Skills are evaluated based on Level 1 in Listening, Reading Comprehension, Communication, and Narrative categories from the national curriculum.

To study Norwegian or Swedish, students must understand spoken Norwegian/Swedish well, read and comprehend simple age-appropriate texts, and communicate verbally in Norwegian/Swedish. This minimum knowledge is necessary for students to benefit from the Norwegian/Swedish courses offered.
