Green Residential of the Future

Housing is one of the most important tasks of the time, but the vast and necessary construction of residential buildings leaves a deep carbon footprint. New green concepts and solutions are needed, so the CoR is conducting development projects as part of the Green Plan, taking into account the focus of the CoR's master plan and climate change programme.

Competition - Land for Green Housing

The City of Reykjavik called in the beginning of 2022 for applications for partnerships on five exciting locations chosen for eco-friendly housing development.

Domestic and foreign models

The model project is, on the one hand, the city's economic housing project where the city is currently working with nine developers to build convenient apartments for young people and first-time buyers across the city, and, on the other hand, the Re-inventing Cities international project where two individual projects are currently being developed at Minimula and Riverhead.

Close proximity to green spaces and outdoor spaces

You will look, among other things, at areas that are close to green spaces and outdoor areas and can enjoy a close proximity to them. The aim will be for 25-33% of dwellings within each plot to be general dwellings (with start-up grants) or on behalf of profit-driven societies. The construction of all fields shall meet the contractual objectives for new construction fields.
